As part of my love for information, I also love to improve my self worth to my clients. In my research to improve in Search Engine Optimization I came across this video through a friend of mine on Twitter… @CoreyCreed (SEO Specialist!) A “Top Ranking” hiding in your site? You’ll thank yourself for watching!
Many people think that “If they build it, they will come”. I hope you are not trying this theory with your website.
There are many steps to bringing people to your website.
Dream up your idea and Plan
Find a web designer whom can implement your ideas effectively and within your budget
Assist your web designer with text and images you wish to have on your site along with specifics regarding your target market audience so that your web designer can optimize it for search engines. If your web designer is not knowledgeable with SEO – Hire a Pro!
Give feed back as your web designer develops your site
Finalize and go live with your site
But wait – it doesn’t stop there. You are not done…. Just because you’ve built it, they still may not come!
Market your site…
Send out emails to all your friends and colleagues and ask them to send it on as well.
Sign up for online directory listings like “Merchant Circle, Yellow Book, Linked In, etc.”
Network in your community – Examples: Chamber of Commerce, business cards and flyers with your website address, vehicle signs and business signs.
Find similar interest sites and ask to be back linked with them.
Analyze web statistics and improve search keywords based on input.
Having followed the steps above, People are surely to visit your site. Now keeping them there is another story which we’ll cover in another post!
We all could use some advice when it comes to SEO. There is always someone doing something different and better than you. If you are already doing the following steps then wonderful, how about leaving some comments about what else we should do.
Get Listed on Major and/or Many Directories: I don’t believe you can be on too many, unless of course you are paying for them and you run out of money – then, that would be too many. Below is a list of directories that I use, there are zillions out there so do some research as to what will best suit your business. If you are not a web designer, then I doubt you’ll want to use the web design directories I have listed.
Get on Board with answering blog posts and forums. It may be tiresome and time consuming, but if you do it wisely and a lot, It’ll help.
The more businesses you can get to link to you that are relevant to your business, the better. Google loves this for credibility reasons.
The source of this information is trial and error and research. I don’t claim that this will help you, but if you are not already doing this, why not give it a try and see.
Are you working hard to get that site looking just right? Wondering to go for the Pure CSS layout or use tables because that’s what you are used to? Put a little fun into your day and watch this video by Poetic Prophet (AKA The SEO Rapper)! Bet you’ll feel like jamming.
I am an inactive member of The Charlotte Seo Meetup group, but today I feel more connected. I watch a recorded session that was hosted on U-stream. It was nice to get to know the members and here what they are about. Post to del.icio.us
